International Peace and Security, the Vulnerability of Children

International peace and security play a crucial role in determining the well-being of children worldwide. When peace and security are compromised—whether through war, terrorism, political instability, or economic crises—children are often the most vulnerable and suffer the greatest consequences.

  1. Displacement and Loss of Stability
Conflicts and insecurity force families to flee their homes, leading to internal displacement and refugee crises. Children in these situations lose access to basic necessities like food, clean water, healthcare, and education, pushing them into extreme vulnerability.
  2. Recruitment into Armed Groups
In conflict zones, children are at high risk of being recruited as child soldiers or forced into criminal activities, stripping them of their childhood and exposing them to violence and trauma.
  3. Disruption of Education
War and insecurity often result in the destruction of schools and educational systems. Many children are left without access to formal education, limiting their future opportunities and increasing their chances of falling into poverty.
  4. Increased Exploitation and Abuse
In times of instability, trafficking, child labor, and gender-based violence rise. Girls, in particular, are more vulnerable to early marriage and sexual exploitation as families struggle for survival.
  5. Psychological and Emotional Trauma
